Take a Canadian horseback holiday and ride the high cattle country of the Canadian Rocky Mountains and foothills at The Homeplace Ranch. Our horses and cattle range over 7000 acres plus we ride on what is called Crown Land owned by the province of Alberta. The Homeplace Ranch is in the high foothills (4900 feet) of the Rockies between Banff and Calgary about 1 hour from either.At the ranch the Lodge will accommodate 12 guests in private rooms with private bath plus western-style living and dining area with fireplace and hot tub. Recently added is The Coach House the ranch owners previous home)accommodating 6 or 7 people.All meals are served family style with all guests and staff eating together at one long table.Riding varies from mountain valleys to high foothills crossing numerous streams meadows and old Indian trails. This type of terrain allows you the chance to periodically trot or canter if desired. We have 40 head of horses to satisfy the expert to novice rider. A horse is given to you when you arrive. Our cowboys will spend time showing you how to become comfortable and work with your mount. If you wish come out in the morning to help feed and groom. After a day in the saddle (or half day if you wish) relax in our hot tub or hike and explore the Beaver Dam trail and see the now barely distinguishable remnants of an old coal camp.If fishing golf or rafting interest you we have friends in the business who can provide that for you. On weekends you can attend a rodeo or polo game depending on the season. Or go to Calgary and enjoy nightlife and dancing. The natural beauty of Banff is also worth the trip.As our guest numbers are small please reserve early. Hope to see you soon.
